YADGIR: A couple was burnt alive after an electrical short circuit at their residence and their textile shop, at Saidapur town in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Ragaiah and Shilpa. The couple also run a textile shop at home. The entire house was engulfed with thick smoke, as a result of the short circuit and the couple was not able to escape from the house and died due to suffocation.
The couple had two children, who were sleeping on the ground floor with their grandparents. The children and grandparents are, however, safe.
Fire brigade personnel reached the spot and extinguished the fire. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Saidapur police station.
