BENGALURU: A couple involved in stealing from two Croma electronic goods showrooms in Bengaluru has been arrested by Varthur police. The accused, Divas Kami Arohan Thapa and Asmita, were arrested for their involvement in the crime.
Asmita, who was in a relationship with Divas, had left her husband and moved to Bengaluru with him. They lived in the Varthur police station limits for the past six months.
The couple hatched a plan to make quick money in a short time and resorted to theft. They targeted high-end showrooms, stealing expensive mobile phones and other gadgets.
Within 24 hours, they burgled two Croma showrooms in Varthur police station limits and stole 38 high-end phones, including an iPhone 17 Pro Max, worth Rs 30 lakh. Asmita was selling the stolen phones.

The accused would break the shutters of the Croma showroom at night and steal expensive mobile phones kept there and escape through the emergency exit. The police registered a case and arrested the accused, recovering 28 mobile phones worth Rs 30 lakh and a watch. Further investigation is under way.
