SHIVAMOGGA: A convict created a ruckus in the Shivamogga Central Jail and smashed two TVs in the video-conferencing room. A case has been registered against the prisoner at the Tunganagar police station on the charges of damaging government property and obstructing officials from performing their duty.

Prisoner Aditya Rao, who was convicted and sentenced 20 years imprisonment in connection with planting an improvised explosive device (IED) near the ticketing counter at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on January 20, 2022, was the one who created an uproar in the jail. He was shifted from the Mangaluru jail to the Shivamogga Central jail.

Aditya Rao came to the jail office on Thursday and asked the staff if there was questioning on that day. The staff in the office checked the records and told him that there was no inquiry.

Aditya went out of the office, but came back in a short while and suddenly smashed the two TVs in the video-conferencing room. Immediately some jail staff caught hold of him and handed him over to the jailer.

Later, Jail Superintendent Anita registered a case against prisoner Aditya Rao at the Tunganagar police station on the charges of damaging government property and obstructing officials from performing their duty.
