BENGALURU: The contractor in charge of the Metro pillar construction, where the collapse of an under-construction pillar claimed two lives on Tuesday, didn’t take safety measures, the father-in-law of the woman who died in the incident has alleged.

Tejaswini and her toddler Vihaan were killed after an under-construction Metro pillar collapsed in the city. Speaking to ANI, Vijayakumar, the father-in-law of the victim, demanded that construction work be stopped immediately. “The contractor in charge of the Metro pillar construction clearly didn’t take safety measures. The construction activity should be stopped immediately because it is going on without safety”, he said.

Tons of steel came crashing down on the woman and her child.

“If a bus or some other vehicle carrying passengers had crossed that point at that time, there could have been more casualties. Our world has been destroyed. I demand the government to provide safety measures at the construction sites”, Vijayakumar added.  (ANI)
