NEW DELHI: Calling most of the leaders of Delhi Congress as “chugalakhor” (snitcher), party leader Udit Raj on Thursday said that there is a need for a big change in leadership in the Delhi Congress as the party is weak in the national capital.
“What will happen in future we can’t can’t predict. Our priority is to save democracy and the Constitution. In politics, nothing is permanent. All the decisions are being taken by the party’s high command”, Udit Raj said when asked whether Congress will ally with AAP in the future.
He further raised the demand that the leaders who are continuously losing in Delhi should not be given tickets in the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi.”The continuous defeat of Congress in Delhi where big leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi live, is a matter of concern for the party. I feel bad that the party is weak in Delhi because of our own people. Inn chugalakhor logo ki vajh se kamjor hai party. Yeh kaam nahi karte hai aur jo kaam karne lagta hai, usko sab gher laite hai aur kaam karne nahi dete. There is a need for a big change in leadership in Delhi Congress”, he added.
Udit Raj further said that in the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi in 2025, maximum number of tickets should be given to candidates from Purvanchal. “It is wrong to give big posts to those leaders in Delhi Congress who do not have any public base”, he added.
Congress leader Abhishek Dutt had on Saturday blamed the Aam Aadmi Party for their loss in the Lok Sabha elections and said that the party suffered a loss in the general elections due to the involvement of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy scam.
“Congress suffered a loss due to the involvement of Arvind Kejriwal in the scam. I believe if we had not contested the elections with them, then Congress’ seats would have increased in the elections. Because of the excise scam, the Congress suffered a loss in the Lok Sabha elections. Satyendar Kumar Jain is in jail because of his involvement in the scam. Manish Sisodia is in jail and because of all of them Congress has suffered the loss,” he added.
On June 6, Aam Aadmi Party said it will contest the Delhi Assembly elections on its own without an alliance with Congress. Party leader Gopal Rai noted that the two parties had come together in the national capital only for Lok Sabha polls.
Assembly polls in Delhi are expected to be held in early 2025. Congress could not win a single seat in the Delhi Assembly polls held in 2020. While AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats, BJP secured eighth seats in the last assembly polls. (ANI)
