Congress govt plans to invite Barack Obama for Belagavi session in December

BENGALURU: The Congress government in Karnataka is planning to invite former US President Barack Obama for the Belagavi winter session which will be held in December. This year marks the 100th anniversary since Mahatma Gandhiji presided over the Belagavi Congress session in 1924. Hence, the Congress decided to commemorate the event by inviting the former US president.

Obama, a follower of Gandhiji’s principles, will be the special guest at the Belagavi joint session in December, if he accepts the invitation. The state government has already contacted Obama’s team. If he accepts it, the event will be scheduled as per his availability.

The event will be held sometime in December. Obama being a follower of Gandhi’s principles, it is being touted as a very meaningful event. Sources said the state government has already contacted Obama’s representives to discuss his availability. The Congress is making all efforts to bring former US President Obama to Belagavi for the event planned in remembrance of Gandhiji’s visit.
