BENGLURU: While the central and state Congress leaders, and star campaigners have dived headlong into election campaigning in various parts of the state, leaders representing different communities in the party are not too keen on campaigning in other Assembly constituencies where they can influence voters and consolidate votes for their fellow candidates.
While the candidates are busy campaigning in their own constituencies, it is on the shoulders of Opposition leader Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief D K Shivakumar to tour the length and breadth of the state and campaign in favour of the candidates and the party.
In many of the constituencies, the candidates see the need for leaders from the minority community, SC and ST groups to bolster their position, but such leaders have restricted themselves to their own constituencies and reaching out to their own communities, which could prove a setback for the Congress.
Apart from this, even state leaders are also not participating in district level campaigns. This has now become a big headache for the party and its leaders, who are now thinking of redrawing their strategies.
