YADGIR: Congress candidate from Gurmitkal Assembly constituency, Baburao Chinchansur, sustained serious injuries after his car met with an accident in Kalaburagi past midnight on Saturday.
Chinchansur was on his way back to Kalaburagi from Yadgir when the incident occured around 12.30 am. The car hit a pit on the road near the All India Radio station in Kalaburagi, resulting in Chinchansur suffering serious injuries in the face, head and legs. He was immediately shifted to the United Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
It is said that the car driver was drowsy and did not notice the pit. The vehicle was also badly damaged. However, the driver and the gunman escaped without any injuries.
