BENGALURU: The Congress central leadership on Tuesday announced the party’s fourth list of seven candidates for the upcoming Assembly election, while it is yet to finalise candidates for the remaining eight constituencies. The party has so far announced a total 216 candidates for the 224 constituencies.
Jagadish Shettar, who switched over from the BJP and joined the Congress on Monday, will be contesting from Hubli-Dharwad Central constituency while Deepak Chinchore got ticket from Hubli-Dharwad West.

Sitting Harihar MLA Ramappa has been denied the ticket and the party has chosen Nandagavi Srinivas. It has also given the ticket to H D Thammaiah from Chikkamagaluru, who switched from the BJP after a tussle with C T Ravi.
The Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the keenly watched Pulakeshi Nagar constituency where Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, who was the MLA, resigned from the party recently. The other segments where candidates are yet to announced include C V Raman Nagar, K R Puram, Arakalgud, Mulbagal, Sidlaghatta, Raichur city and Mangaluru North.
The other candidates announced on Tuesday night include Mohammed Yousuf Savanur from Shiggaon, M A Gopalaswamy from Shravanabelagola and Durgappa S Hoolageri from Lingsugur-SC constituency. Of the seven candidates, one each are from the Vokkaliga, Kuruba and Muslim communities, two are Lingayats and three belong to Scheduled Castes.
