HUBBALLI: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said the Congress is steeped in corruption and hence, people will not respond to the two-hour bandh call given by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar on March 9.

Speaking to media persons here, the CM said efore making allegations against others, one should themselves be clean. “Congress indulged in corruption in everything, even purchase of biscuits and coffee. M B Patil, K J George and H C Mahadevappa should be questioned what targets Siddaramaiah had set for them. The Congress itself will be shut across the country, so there is no point in the bandh call”, he remarked.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was felicitated by supporters.

The Congress was involved in numerous scams and trying to raise its fortunes by calling for a bandh is foolhardy, the CM said. “There is the electoral battlefied and the people will decide”, he added.

Referring to the ‘inauguration’ of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at Rajahamsagarh by the Congress, he termed it as a joke. “After it has been inaugurated by the government, it is not appropriate to indulge in politics like this in the name of national leaders”, he said.

On the issue of ISPK claiming responsibility for the Mangaluru cooker blast, the CM questioned what D K Shivakumar had to say now. “He had claimed that it was only a cooker blast and not a terror incident. He had accused the BJP of misusing the issue. He should be questioned what he has to say now”, Bommai added.
