CHAMARAJANAGAR: The BJP candidate from Chamarajanagar, V Somanna, on Friday advised a young boy to concentrate on studies and actively involve in sports. This came after the boy inquired with him what needs to be done to become a chief minister.

Somanna has a word with a young boy.

Somanna, who set out early on Friday morning on his campaign, visited the Ambedkar Stadium and a park, where he interacted with people. At that time, a young boy approached Somanna and asked what one should do to become CM. To this, Somanna said, “Concentrate on your studies, actively take part in sports and forget everything else. If you are destined to become CM, you will”, he said.

Somanna bought newspapers and interacted with people at a park.

Reacting to Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s “Who is Somanna”? remark, he said that during the 2006 election, he had taken beatings for Siddaramaiah and had travelled from Devalapura to Mysuru with torn clothes. “The windshield of my car was smashed and my trousers torn. I had taken on my own community then and worked for Siddaramaiah, but he does not remember all that now. I address him respectfully, but he addresses me in singular. This is the difference between us. He should not speak such language”, Somanna said.

He also interacted with people at the stadium; (right) A holy man blesses Somanna.

Somanna, who is also constesting from Varuna Assembly constituency against Siddaramaiah, was accompanied by BJP leaders from Chamarajanagar during his morning campaign.
