BENGALURU: A self-syled godman and priest at the Male Mahadeshwara Swami temple in Devalamaradahaggu village, who claims to have the power of Lord Madheshwara, has been accused of cheating people in villages around Anekal on the outskirts of Bengaluru. He allegedly tricked people into believing that he is curing their illnesses and possesses supernatural powers.

Guru Mahadev would give people a box, claiming it’s a remedy for their problems, and would warn them not to open it without his permission, or they’ll face dire consequences. He’s also known to give people items like lemons, claiming they have healing properties.

One victim, Venkatesh, a resident of Nosenuru village near Jigani, had been visiting Guru Mahadev for three years, seeking solutions to his problems. Venkatesh had fever and instead of seeking medical treatment, he went to Guru Mahadev, who gave him a box and some items, claiming that its contents would cure him.

However, Venkatesh’s condition worsened, and he died at a hospital on March 31. His family is now seeking justice, and the police have registered a case against Guru Mahadev at the Harohalli police station. It’s alleged that Guru Mahadev has cheated around 30 families, taking Rs 35,000 from each for the boxes. The villagers are now speaking out against his alleged scams, and the community is demanding action against him.
