UDUPI: A case has been registered against a Konkan Railway staffer for allegedly beating up two minor boys accused of stealing metal liners and iron pieces from the railway tracks. The incident took place when the two boys went to their grandfather’s house in Avaralu Mattu at Palimar village.

On February 15, a railway gangman saw two boys in school uniforms stealing iron pieces and metal liners for scrap from the railway track when he was coming on the track for routine checkings. The gangman questioned them, asking what they were doing and to which school they belonged.

He allegedly beat up one of the boys on the head and the other on the leg with a stick. After a long conversation between them, the gangman said that he would hand them over to police. The boys then escaped on a two-wheeler.

The gangman also recorded a video of the boys on his mobile phone, which has now gone viral on social media platforms in the coastal region.

The father of one of the boys alleged that the gangman had made the video and posted it on social media, and filed a complaint against the railway staff at the Padubidri police station. The police are investigating the case.
