Commercial tax dept raids businesses over dues, detects Rs 25 crore evasion across Bengaluru

BENGALURU: The Commercial Tax Department in Bengaluru has launched a major crackdown on tax evasion by conducting raids on hotels, restaurants, electronics retailers, and automobile dealerships across the city. The operation, led by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) wing, has uncovered tax evasion worth approximately Rs 25 crore so far.

The raids were carried out at various locations, including Yelahanka, Kalyan Nagar, Hebbal, Banaswadi, Indiranagar and Devanahalli. The department is continuing its investigation, and further actions are expected. The operation is part of the department’s efforts to curb tax evasion and increase revenue collection.

The targeted sectors include electronics, automobile spare parts, gift articles, dry fruits and confectionery, paints and hardware, iron and steel, and cement. The department has warned that it will take strict action against those found guilty of tax evasion, including imposing penalties and fines.
