CHIKKAMAGALUR: In a hit-and-run accident, a two-wheeler rider was grievously injured when he was knocked down from behind by a speeding car (KA 21 MD 9552) near the government bus stand here late on Monday night. It is suspected that the car belongs to comedian Chandraprabha of Gicchi Gili-Gili show fame.

In CCTV footage, the car can be seeing brushing against the scooter causing the rider to fall.

In CCTV footage, the speeding car can be seen knocking down the scooterist near a zebra crossing and speeding away. The injured scooterist Malatesh, a resident of Nagenahalli in the taluk, was returning home after work.

Malatesh was shifted to Hassan for treatment of injuries. His family members have lodged a complaint with the Chikkamagalur traffic police in this regard.

When contacted, Chandraprabha told Public TV, “I was returning from a shoot when the scooterist, who was drunk, touched the left side of my car and fell. I stopped the car, put the scooterist in an autorickshaw and got him admitted to the government hospital in Chikkamagalur. Since I was getting late for a programme, I left the place. The police had called me and I told them that I am at a shoot and that I would visit the police station after finishing the shoot”.
