College student claims she was cheated by youth with promise of marriage

The girl claims she was cheated in the name of marriage.

HASSAN: A college student has alleged that a youth from her village, who works as a car driver, had cheated her with the promise of marriage. She also claimed that even after over a month since she lodged a complaint, the police had done nothing.

The girl, a first-year BCA student at the government women’s college in Haradanahalli of Holenarsipur taluk, is a resident of KB Palya and her parents had fixed her marriage with a relative. However, Aditya, a car driver from the same village, had been pursuring her for the last three years.

The girl claimed that they got married at Nimishamba temple near Srirangapatna on February 2.

According to the girl, Aditya came near her house two months ago and called her outside. He then took her in a car (KA-08-6990) to Mysuru and from there to Srirangapatna. He promised to marry her and took her to a lodge where he forcefully had physical contact with her. The next day, on February 2, he took her to Nimishamba temple where he tied the mangalsutra to her and they returned to Mysuru where he again forced her into physical contact, she alleged.

Aditya then shared the girl’s engagement photos with her relative among his brothers and claimed that they were against the marriage, took took away the mangalsutra and escaped, she claimed. After she lodged a complaint with the Holenarsipur police, Aditya promised to register their marriage and kept her in his friend’s house. But later, he claimed that his parents were opposed to the marriage and sent her back to her parental home, she claimed.

The girl also claimed that though it had been over a month since she lodged a complaint, the police had not acted. She demanded that the police should immediately arrest him and deliver justice to her.
