BENGALURU: People in Bengaluru have been experiencing intense cold and strong chilly winds since the past week due to the effect of Cyclone Ditwah. The cold is so severe that people are hesitant to step out of their houses and prefer the warmth inside.

On Monday, some districts in south-interior Karnataka were expected to receive light to moderate rain. C S Patil of the weather department said that cold weather will increase over the next three days.
Because of this extreme cold, children and the elderly are falling ill. The number of people visiting hospitals complaining of colds, headaches, and mild fever is rising. Health problems have started in children under four years of age. Parents, worried by this, are taking their children to the hospital, causing the OPD sections of hospitals to become crowded.
Elsewhere in the state, The effects of Cyclone Ditwa turned Bidar district into a foggy town on Monday, with the biting cold leaving residents shivering. The minimum temperature has dropped to 10-12 degrees, making it difficult for people to step out of their homes.
The cyclone has brought dense fog, engulfing the entire district, and transforming Bidar into a winter wonderland, reminiscent of Madikeri. The usually bustling walking tracks are now deserted, with only a handful of people venturing out, clad in sweaters, gloves, and monkey caps.
“Earlier, many people used to come here for walks, but the cyclone has brought intense cold, and people are staying indoors. We’re also scared to step out due to the biting chill,” said locals. The cold wave has brought daily activities to a standstill, with residents preferring to stay indoors rather than brave the chill.
In Kolar, with the city experiencing a cloudy atmosphere and a drop in temperature to a minimum of 18 degrees, leaving residents shivering. The Sun has been hiding behind the clouds for the past four days, and the cold breeze is biting.
The usually warm city of Kolar is experiencing a sudden chill, with people bundling up to stay warm. However, the unseasonal weather is likely to impact crops and may also lead to health issues. The cyclone’s impact has brought much-needed respite from the heat, but it’s also a cause for concern for farmers and residents, who are worried about the potential damage to crops and their health.
