BENGALURU: Bengalureans have noticed that the cold wave has intensified and the temperature has been lower than usual. Even at 11 am the atmosphere feels chilly. The Meteorological department has predicted there is also a possibility of light rain accompanied by cold weather for the next six days.
From December 16 to 21, a low‑pressure system is expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapur, Kolar and the north‑southern interior, as well as the north-interior regions will experience cloudy skies and there is a chance of light rain. Overnight temperatures may drop to as low as 10 °C.
In northern Karnataka too, the cold is intensifying with a sharp fall in temperature. Senior meteorologist CS Patil of the weather department advises that due to the strong cold winds, children and adults with health problems should be careful while walking, wear warm clothing and consume fresh, hot food.
After December 21, the intensity of the cold condition is expected to ease a little and temperatures may rise. However, in the last week of December and in early January, the cold winds will increase again, and there will be even more cold weather, he cautioned.
