BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son and former MLA Yathindra has made a fresh controversial statement, saying that his father is in the final phase of his political career. He believes a leader is needed to guide younger leaders to take charge and Satish Jarkiholi is taking on that responsibility.
Yathindra taking the name of Satish Jarkiholi, said he trusts the latter will lead those with progressive ideals and is an example for all politicians who believe in Congress party’s principles. He noted it is rare to find principled leaders, and said Jarkiholi is doing commendable work, while wishing him continued success.
Yathindra’s statement that CM Siddaramaiah is at the end of his political career has caused a storm in political circles. It has given rise to speculation whether he is hinting at the next Chief Minister or talking about the future leadership of Ahinda. Questions are also being raised if Yathindra has thrown a curveball by mentioning alternative leadership amidst power-sharing controversies.

By taking Satish Jarkiholi’s name, who is DK Shivakumar’s rival, to lead younger leaders, Yathindra may have sent a message about transferring leadership from Siddaramaiah to Jarkiholi, many feel. There are also discussion about whether Yathindra strategically made the statement to pave the way for future developments and whether it is a calculated move, combining all cards, including a Dalit CM.
There is also speculation about Yathindra having received a message about change of Chief Minister in November and if he is floating Satish Jarkiholi’s name as part of a strategy by hinting that Satish Jarkiholi could be a better leader than DK Shivakumar. While DK Shivakumar’s supporters are talking about November-December revolution, Yathindra’s statement has sparked discussion and curiosity. If the party high command decides to change Siddaramaiah, mentioning Jarkiholi’s name is a strategic Ahinda move, political watchers pointed out.
