BENGALURU: After the daylight robbery case from an ATM cash van near Ashoka Pillar-Jayanagar-Dairy Circle route, with Rs 5.76 crore of the total Rs 7.11 crore that was robbed, the cash management firm CMS Ltd is keeping close watch on its other branch in Rajajinanagar and is on high alert.

Tight security has been arranged for the company’s vehicles that transport money to ATMs. Two custodians, a gunman and the driver are travelling with heavy security in the cash‑filled vehicle. At the same time, rear and front camera inspection is also being carried out.

The CMS company has three branches in Bengaluru and tight security is maintained everywhere. However, there are allegations that some places have been neglected. In some places there is no gunman, at others there is no custodian, the company’s staff themselves allege.

After the whopping Rs 7 crore robbery, the crew of the cash‑transport vehicles are now working with utmost care.

Police investigation has revealed that out of the stolen Rs 7 crore, the accused used only Rs 1 lakh.

From the Rs 7 crore that was in two bundles, they took Rs 1 lakh and spent Rs 40,000 to buy one OnePlus mobile and Rs 20,000 for another mobile. They also used the stolen money to pay for petrol, two days of meals, and lodges where they stayed while moving around to execute their plan.

They gave small amounts of Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 to people who provided minor assistance. To recover the stolen money, the police have obtained a letter from HDFC Bank containing the serial numbers of the Rs 7.11 crore in currency notes that was robbed. The police are now working to recover the missing serial‑numbered notes.
