CM writes to Kampli transgender, appreciates service to promote education

The transgender has been helping students from poor families with school uniforms, books and stationery.

BALLARI: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has praised the social service activities and education-oriented efforts of transgender Rajamma of Suggenahalli in Kampli taluk. The transgender has been spending the money earned through begging for promoting education.

Rajamma has been buying school uniforms, books and stationery for students from poor families with her earnings from begging. Recognising her efforts, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written a lette rof appreciation.

In his letter, the CM highlighted Rajamma’s social awareness and pointed out that despite personal challenges, her service has been a model for others. Rajamma’s selfless service is an example for positive change in society, he noted while appreciating her efforts.

“From whatever I earn, I save some money to help students from poor families. I cannot bear children, so I help these poor children. Last year and the year before, I bought uniforms for children once and this year, I did it twice. I have spent about Rs 60,000 on this endeavour”, Rajamma said.
