CHAMARAJANAGAR: A day after chairing a cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday visited the Male Mahadeshwara temple atop Male Mahadeshwara Hills where he was given a grand welcome by the MM Hills Development Authority.
The CM was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues K Venkatesh and H C Mahadevappa. The CM recalled that he had donated silver articles presented to him for the silver chariot of the presiding deity. After offering prayers at the temple, the CM headed to the JSS Suttur Math where he had breakfast and proceeded to Hanur where he inaugurated several development projects.
Speaking to media persons, he said, “I have visited Chamarajanagar more than 20 times and my government is further strengthened by this”. He also said the Enforcement Directorate searches at Congress leader Vinay Kulkarni’s residence was a political conspiracy. “Why doesn’t ED raid BJP leaders? Are they squeaky clean?” he questioned.
The CM also participated in the naming ceremony of former zilla panchayat member Eshwar’s granddaughter and blessed the infant at the Suttur Math at MM Hills. The child is the daughter of Eshwar’s daughter Shivashankari and son-in-law Umashankar.
The CM later inaugurated an Indira Canteen near the Hanur bus stand and tasted the preparations. He, however, did not lay the foundation stone for the Praja Soudha since the tender for the works have not yet been called.
In Chamarajanagar, Siddaramaiah laid the foundation for installation of Bhagirath, Kanakadasa and Valmiki statues and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kanaka Bhavan.
