MYSURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday laid the foundation for major projects worth Rs 408.95 crore being undertaken by Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) and KPTCL in Mysuru district.
At his government’s two-year achievement event held at Maharaja’s College Grounds in Mysuru, CM Siddaramaiah, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Energy Minister KJ George, flagged off four major CESC projects.
A key part of the initiative involves replacing 11 kV overhead power lines with underground cables and low-tension (LT) overhead lines with aerial bunch cables across four assembly constituencies in Mysuru city.
These projects are being implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 118.97 crore in Krishnaraja, Rs 125.51 crore in Chamaraja, Rs 103.74 crore in Narasimharaja, and Rs 60.73 crore in Chamundeshwari assembly constituencies.
On the same occasion, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid the foundation for two projects worth Rs 38.73 crore being undertaken by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) in Hunsur taluk.
The projects include the construction of a 66/11 kV, 2×20 MVA substation at Manuganahalli (Rs 20.41 crore) and another 66/11 kV, 2×20 MVA substation at Kattemalalavadi (Rs 18.32 crore), both located in Hunsur taluk.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that the state government has allocated Rs 50 crore for each MLA’s constituency as part of its ongoing push to enhance development across the state.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Shivakumar said, “We had made this decision in the budget. About Rs 8000 crores of funds were allocated for this. We will give this fund to the ruling and opposition MLAs. The funds have been given for public works, rural development, and the discretion of the MLAs.”
However, the opposition BJP has raised objections, alleging that the Congress-led government has allocated Rs 50 crore exclusively to its own party MLAs. (ANI)
