BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday went around different parts of the city and inspected first-hand the progress of various civic and infrastructure development work. The CM left from Vidhana Soudha in a BMTC bus and inspected works between Hebbal flyover and Old Madras Road.
At Hebbal, Siddaramaiah reviewed the flyover widening work towards K R Pura, which has been going on at a snail’s pace over the last several months, and instructed the BDA chairman and commissioner Jayaram to complete the work soon. At Veeranapalya, the CM inspected the progress of the Namma Metro work and also interacted with Congress workers while seated in the bus.
On witnessing the condition of the service road in Veeranapalya, the CM questioned the BMRCL MD Maheshwar Rao and Yelahanka zone BBMP chief engineer why there were potholes. When minister Byrathi Suresh explained that only patchwork had been done and the service road would be fixed later, the CM directed the BMRCL MD to ensure that there are no potholes where Metro works are going on. He also directed the BMRCL to fix the Veeranapalya service road.
From there, the CM proceeded to review the progress of Metro work at Nagawara and directed the authorities to complete the work soon. He also interacted with Congress workers. On Hennur Road, the CM inspected pothole filling work and questioned the BBMP chief engineer Prahalad why only one layer of asphalt was used. To this, BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said they will fill it with another layer of asphalt.
An ambulance was stuck behind the CM’s convoy all the way from Nagawara to Hennur Road. When the CM alighted the bus to inspect the road, the police quickly made way for the ambulance to pass.
At KR Pura, the CM inspected the Metro work and was felicitated by locals. Local MLA Byrathi Basavaraj explained to the CM about the progress of work. The CM also interacted with the Metro staff. He also took a ride up to Vidhana Soudha Metro station. The CM, however, skipped inspecting the pothole filling works on Old Madras Road and returned to his official residence ‘Cauvery’ from the Vidhana Soudha Metro station.
