CM Siddaramaiah inaugurates Republic Day flower show at Lalbagh

This year, the flower show is themed on sage Valmiki.

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday inaugurated the 217th flower show at Lalbabh, being organised in conneciton with Republic Day. The CM offered floral tributes to a bust of sage Valmiki to mark the inauguration. He was accompanied by cabinet colleagues B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, Ramalinga Reddy and S S Mallikarjun.

This time, the flower show is themed on sage Valmiki and about 25 lakh flowers have been used to create various displays. About 6-70 types of seasonal flowers from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are being used to create the exhibits.

The Horticulture Department expects about 10 lakh visitors this time and the flower show will be on till January 27. To ensure security, 120 CCTV cameras have been installed. Separate parking arrangements have also been made to ensure there is no traffic congestion.

Two-wheeler parking arrangements have been made on Dr Marigowda Road: Al-Ameen College premises (two-wheelers); KH Double Road: Shantinagar BMTC multi-storeyied parking lot (two- and four-wheelers). Hopcoms on Dr Marigowda Road (two- and four-wheelers); JC Road: Corporation parking lot (two- and four-wheelers).

Parking of vehicles is prohibited in the following areas: Dr Marigowda Road from Lalbagh main gate to Nimhans (both sides); KH Double Road From KH Circle to Shantinagar junction (both sides); Lalbagh Road from Subbaiah Circle to Lalbagh Main Gate (both sides); Siddaiah Road from Urvashi Theatre Junction to Wilson Garden 12th Cross (both sides); BTS Road from BMTC junction towards Post Office and both sides of Krumbigal Road.
