CM Bommai unveils 108-foot-tall Male Mahadeshwara statue in Chamarajanagar district

CHAMARAJNAGAR: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated a 108-foot tall Male Mahadeshwara statue at Deepadagiri Voddu Male Mahadeshwara Hills in the district on Saturday. The statue has been built at a cost Rs 20 crore and has been installed on the rock atop the hills.

Basavaraj Bommai also unveiled a silver chariot and inaugurated multiple development works at MM Hills. Earlier, he offered prayers to Lord Shiva.

Speaking after inaugurating the statue, CM Bommai said, “I pray to Lord Male Mahadeshwara to bless all the devotees gathered here. Some places have an emotions connect and we get peace of mind after visiting a temple. The statue, carved beautifully, highlights the significance of this pilgrim place”.

The CM added, “My only wish is welfare of all Kannadigas and everyone should lead independent life and with self-respect. I would say my happiness lies in that. We should derive inspiration from the service of the people. Life lies between birth and death and the future generations will remember us by our service and achievements. Birth and death is not in our hand, but life is our hands. There is use in thinking past, so let us engage in the service of the people wherever and whenever we get opportunities and time. God knows how much and what to give to his devotees. Let us all concentrate on the welfare of people”.

“People think more about what they don’t have than what they have. We should do good for others and people can get understand about ‘Satvikate’ and ‘achievement’ through the miracles of Male Mahadeshwara”, the CM said.

Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamy, Ministers V Somanna and S T Somashekar, MLAs R Narendra and N Mahesh, and Saalur Brihmanmutt seers Guruswamy and Shanthamallikarjunaswamy were also present.
