BENGALURU: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the 12-km stretch of the Outer Ring Road, which has been named after late Puneeth Rajkumar, in Padmanabha Nagar and unveiled the name board too on Tuesday evening .
Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, actor Raghavendra Rajkumar, actor Abhishek Ambarish, Dodda Rangegowda, Rockline Venkatesh, Revenue Minister R Ashoka, MP Tejasvi Surya and others were present on the occasion.
The 12-km stretch of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Padmanabha Nagar between Nayandahalli junction and Vega City Mall on Bannerghatta Road has been named after actor Puneeth Rajkumar. Speaking on the occasion, CM Basavaraj Bommai said he will take responsibility of the education of 1,800 children.
The CM further said, “Appu achieved greatness at a young age. He has a lot of fans and I have seen tears in their eyes. It was then that I realised the true love people can have for a person. Appu will be with us even after his death”.
“Appu did not discriminate between people, he resides in every heart and has a huge fans following. A beautiful memorial will be built for him soon”, said the CM added.
Remembering the late actor Ambarish, Bommai said, “Ambarish was my dearest friend. Once upon a time, I used to stay with him for a whole week. He was a great giver and gained a lot of fans. I have the privilege of building a memorial for my friend. It will be launched in the first week of March. His fans and the film industry have requested to rename Race Course Road after him and we will do that as soon as possible”.
Actor Raghavendra Rajkumar said how we live our lives is important. “Let us become Appu, let us live as Appu even if it is for two days. October 29 is not the day when Appu died, but the day he was born, a ‘power’ was born”, he added.
