MANDYA: Chief Minsiter Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, who is also Water Resources Minister, offered the traditional ‘bagina’ to river Cauvery atr Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) reservoir today after it reached full level.
CM Siddaramaiah, who arrived at KRS in an Airavata bus along with other ministers, offered ‘bagina’ to Goddess Cauvery for the third time. Later, the ministers inspected the dam along with the CM in the bus. After offering bagina, DK Shivakumar performed puja to the Cauvery statue.

Before inspecting the dam, CM Siddaramaiah spoke about the Mekedatu project, said, “We are ready to build the dam, but Tamil Nadu is opposing it for political reasons”. He requested the central government intervene in the dispute.
Due to less rainfall in Kodagu, Hassan, and Mysuru regions for the past two days, the inflow of water has decreased. The reservoir has an inflow of 57,012 cusecs and an outflow of 33,462 cusecs. The water level in the reservoir, which has a maximum capacity of 124.80 feet has reached full level. The reservoir, which has a storage capacity of 49.452 tmcft of water, currently has reached full storage.
