Class 9 student beaten up by teacher for not answering question, suffers broken bones

The student was allegedly beaten up for not recalling a mathematical formula.

RAMANAGARA: A student of a private school was beaten up badly by a teacher, for allegedly not answering a question, leaving him with a broken arm and back.

Abhishek Gowda is a Class 9 student at Venkat International Public School in Magadi. He was allegedly beaten up by his mathematics teacher Syed Muhim.

The villagers blocked the school bus and staged a protest.

“The teacher posed a question to the class regarding a formula. He asked me stand up and asked me the formula and I replied saying that I didn’t know it. He came next to me and hit me 14 times for not answering, all the while counting. Then he sent me out of the class. Then some other teachers took me to a government hospital where an X-ray was done and my arm was put in a plaster”, the student said.

Angry parents of the students on Friday blocked a bus belonging to the school at Dandenahalli and staged a protest demanding action against the teacher. They have also lodged a complaint with the police.
