Class 10 student jumps off third floor of school building, seriously injured

BENGALURU: Upset over being reprimanded by her teacher, a Class 10 student of the Al-Fahad Education Centre at Bapujinagar in the city attempted suicide by jumping from the third floor of the school building on Friday. She sustained serious injuries and is now undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Farida Khanum, a resident of Shamanna Garden, is a meritorious student and her parents wanted her to become a doctor. On Friday afternoon, she was scolded by her principal over some issue and upset over this, she attempted to end her life. Her act of jumping off the school building was captured on CCTV camera.

Farida fell with a thud on the road and passersby immediately rushed to her rescue. They also informed her parents and shifted her to a hospital. Farida is now being treated in the ICU where her condition is serious. The police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
