BENGALURU: A civic worker and some passersby, including a school student, had a lucky escape from a major disaster after a huge old tree was uprooted today morning, leaving several vehicles damaged at Saraswatinagar in Govindarajanagar ward. While crashing down, the tree brought down an electricity pole too.
The massive tree damaged a house, a car and broke an electricity pole. A civic worker, who was collecting garbage at that time, narrowly escaped death. The tree was wet due to the incessant rain from last night and fell at 6.44 am today.
A complaint had been filed with the BBMP earlier, but no action was taken. Locals expressed outrage at the BBMP for its negligence and questioned who would have been held responsible if a life was lost in the mishap.
