A B.Com student dies after a speedy crane rams over her, locals demands precautionary measures.

BENGALURU: A group of students and locals staged a protest on Friday demanding justice for Noor Fiza, a 19-year-old BCom student, who was crushed to death by a speeding crane near Jain Heritage School on Wednesday. She was a resident of Kannamangala.

A speeding crane crushed a college girl near Kannamangala bus stand on Wednesday.

Fiza was walking home from the Kannamangala bus stand when she was run over by the crane which was being recklessly driven.

Locals claims that the footpath has been encroached by the institution for a garden and has not been laid properly. Also, no speed breakers are installed on the road. Over-speeding and reckless driving by the crane driver is also the reason for the girl’s death, they said.

Local residents have demanded that the institution take steps to prevent road mishaps.

Residents have demanded that the institution should give compensation to Fiza’s family. They also stressed on clearing the footpath of encroachments and installing speed breakers on the Jain Heritage School road. The protesters relented only after the institution agreed to their demands.

A case has been registered at WhiteField traffic police station.
