BENGALURU: Citizens are up in arms against the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) over its handling of waste management, with many expressing frustration and anger after it started dumping garbage at the doorsteps of litterbugs. They are planning to protest by dumping waste in front of the GBA office to highlight the civic body’s inefficiencies.

Residents are fed up with the GBA’s inability to manage waste effectively and are now threatening to dump waste at the GBA’s doorstep if their demands are not met. They are questioning the accountability of GBA officials who seem to be above the law.

A man expressing anger at GBA said that it is nothing but a plan to extort residents. “There is no one to punish GBA officials if they are the culprits. I appreciate the new scheme, but many open grounds belonging to GBA have been converted into dumping yards. Who will be held responsible for this? The official should be aware of what their duty is before implementing the new plan. Sometimes, GBA goods vehicles fail to reach some places, but no one will question that. There are so many places filled with garbage. The residents of the city will dump waste outside if the vehicles do not collect garbage on time”, he said.

He warned the officials and said that, as citizens, they also knew how to take up a cleanliness campaign.
