BENGALURU: With several infrastructure and civic issues plaguing the city, the new Congress government got down to revive Brand Bengaluru’s image. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is in charge of Bengaluru development, even launched an exclusive portal last week to seek public suggestions.
However, in a city with a population of about 1.5 crore, the response has been rather tepid with only about 5,000 suggestions coming in so far and most of them are mostly complaints.
The responses relate to garbage issues, encroachment clearance on rajakaluves, flooding of houses during rains, potholes, development of interior roads, hoardings, improvement of markets and BBMP schools, water problems, lake development among others.
Deputy CM Shivakumar has already started doing the rounds of the city, inspecting flyovers, removal of encroachments along rajakaluves and even holding a meeting with the who’s who of Bengaluru to figure out what ails the city.
