BENGALURU: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has approached a special court in Bengaluru seeking a non-bailable arrest warrant against senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa in a POCSO case.
Yediyurappa has been accused of harassing a minor girl when she and her mother had visited him seeking help with some other issue. The case was registered at the Sadashivanagar police station on March 14 by the minor victim’s mother.
The case was handed over to the CID, but when there was no progress in the investigation for about three months, the victim’s mother approached the high court with a writ petition. Yediyurappa had appeared before the CID on April 12. The police had only collected his voice sample on that day.
The CID had issued a notice to Yediyurappa to present himself for questioning on June 12, but the former CM had written to the CID that he will appear for questioning on June 17 citing prior travel. Meanwhile, his application seeking anticipatory bail is likely to be heard by a court on June 14.
