The work is expected to take about 2 months time to complete.

BENGALURU: The Dr Rajkumar Road, an arterial road in the city, is set to be closed for over about two months for white-topping work, which is expected to cause heavy traffic congestion on Chord Road.

The road is a key route for vehicles coming from Tumakuru Highway and other parts of the state, linking 14 districts. With the work under way, traffic is being diverted to West of Chord Road, which is already a congested route.

The diversion is expected to cause heavy traffic jams, especially near Orion Mall, Sandal Soap Factory, Govardhan Theatare and Goraguntepalya. Other areas likely to be affected include Iskcon Temple, Mahalakshmi Layout Metro Station, Rajajinagar, and Navrang bridge.

The traffic congestion is expected to worsen during peak hours, and even KSRTC buses and goods vehicles will have to use the diverted route, adding to the chaos. Normally, KSRTC buses don’t use this route, but now they will have to, which will further exacerbate the traffic issue.

The authorities hope to complete the work quickly to minimize the inconvenience caused to commuters. If the work is completed quickly, it will reduce the problems faced by the public.
