Chitradurga DDPI office staff celebrate with liquor on premises, outrage as video goes viral

CHITRADURGA: A controversy has erupted over staffers of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) office here, were seen consuming alcohol inside the office. A video of the incident has been widely shared on social media platforms

The video shows staff members with liquor in the DDPI’s office premises to celebrate one of them buying a new car. The DDPI’s driver Ravi is seen pouring bottles of alcohol into a huge can and mixing it with drinking water. One of them can be heard commenting that it is like ‘bangara’ which is offered to Lord Ayyappa.

 

The video has sparked widespread outrage in Chitradurga, with many expressing disappointment and frustration over the behavior of education department staff. The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of education department staff and their role. Many are demanding action against the staff members involved in the incident.

After the report was broadcast on Public TV, Chitradurga DDPI Manjunath claimed he has taken swift action against staff members. “The incident came to light after a report was aired on TV. I have issued notices to the staff members involved, including supervisor Sunil, driver Ravi, First Division Assistants Ganesh and Swami C, and D-group employee Thippeswamy asking them to submit a written explanation. Based on that, an investigation will be conducted and disciplinary action taken. Government offices should not be misused for such activities”, he said.
