Chincholi civil judge books two police officers for extorting truck drivers

Miriyan police sub-inspector Shvaraj Patil and ASI Raju have been named in the FIR.

KALABURAGI: In a case of the fence eating the crop, an FIR has been filed against two policemen for extorting truckers at the same police station where they are posted based on a complaint filed by a civil judge. The accused officials are Miriyan police station Sub-Inspector Shivaraj Patil and Assistant Sub-Inspector Raju.

Chincholi Principal Civil Judge Dattu Kumar Javalkar had visisted the Miriyan police station when he noticed a private individual collecting money from truck drivers on the road in front of the police station. When the judge questioned the individual, he revealed that he was collecting the money on behalf of the ASI.

Following this, the judge lodged a complaint at the same police station based on which an FIR was registered against the two police officers. They have also been accused of tampering with the judge’s visiting diary.
