Child dies after brother accidentally presses air gun trigger in Kanakapura

RAMANAGARA: A seven-year-old child died after being accidentally shot by an air rifle at Kadushivanahalli village in Kanakapura taluk on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Shama (7).

Mallesh owned an air rifle that accidentally killed a labourer’s child.

Mallesh, a farm owner, was in possession of an air rifle. The child’s parents Aminullah and Samsun had come from Uttar Pradesh with their children to work as labourers on Mallesh’s farm three days ago. When parents were working in the farm, the children found the air rifle and started playing with it. At that time, Shama’s elder brother Sajid (16), accidentally pressed the trigger and Shama was shot accidentally. The bullet hit him and he died on the spot.

A case has been registered at Kodihalli police station. The owner of the rifle, Mallesh, was arrested for having the rifle in the house and not following safety measures. Sajid was taken into custody.
