CHIKKAMAGALUR: While stray dogs in Bengaluru will be fed chicken and rice by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, the Chikkamagalur City Municipal Council has warned citizens against feeding stray dogs stating that it could invite strict action.

The municipal council took the decision in view of the increasing number of stray dogs and noted that citizens should not feed leftover food to the dogs. It also noted that pet dogs should be tethered properly and said the owners will be held responsible.

The municipal body noted that feeding of strays by the public had led to an increase in their number and consequently, the instances of dog attacks had also seen a rise. If people are spotted feeding stray dogs, action will be taken as per Supreme Court guidelines, the municipal council said.
