CHIKKAMAGALURU:A huge tree was uprooted due to heavy rain and strong winds in Chikkamagaluru, blocking the Chikkamagaluru-Mullayyanagiri-Datta Peetha route.
The road has been completely closed, affecting tourists and locals. The tree fell near the circle leading to Datta Peeta and Mullayyanagiri, 4 km from Kaimara, completely cutting off access to both places.
The narrow road was congested, but local authorities and rural police cleared the tree and restored traffic flow. Tourists are advised to be cautious while traveling in the Western Ghats region due to heavy rainfall.
In another incident, a huge tree fell on the road in Kogre village near Venkataramana Temple in Megunda, Koppa taluk, disrupting connectivity to four or five villages. The Jayapura police visited the spot, cleared the tree and restored traffic.
