BENGALURU: The accused in the Renukaswamy murder case pleaded not guilty and told the trial court on Monday  that all allegations mentioned in the chargesheet against them are false. After hearing, the court adjourned the next hearing to November 10, when the trial date is likely to be fixed.

Meanwhile, the judge allowed all the accused to have lunch at home for a short period, considering the delay in returning to jail.

Trouble has begun for Darshan and his gang, accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. The 64th CCB court has completed the charge-framing process. A year-and-a-half after the murder, Judge Eerappanna Pavadi Nayak framed charges against Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 17 other accused. When asked by the judge, the accused denied the allegations and claimed they were innocent.

Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and other accused were produced in court from Parappana Agrahara Central Jail amid tight security. The courtroom was packed with lawyers and it was difficult for the accused to enter. Despite the judge’s repeated requests, the lawyers didn’t make space for the accused.

The judge instructed the accused to stand according to the serial number mentioned in the chargesheet. Pavithra Gowda, the first accused, stood first, followed by Darshan, the second accused. The judge read out the chargesheet, and the accused confirmed they had heard it. The judge asked if everyone could hear and offered to repeat it if anyone couldn’t.

The chargesheet mentioned that the accused had planned and kidnapped Renukaswamy, assaulted him, and caused his death. After the charges were read, the accused denied the allegations and claimed they were false. They requested more time to change their lawyers.

The court accepted their plea and adjourned the hearing to November 10, when the trial will begin. The accused were taken back to jail after the formalities are completed.
