BENGALURU: The rise in temperature and weather extremities during the summer season are expected to have an adverse effect on people’s health, specifically the skin.

Normally, the temperature starts to rise in the first week of March, but citizens of Bengaluru are experiencing the change in weather in the second week of February itself. There is a possibility that the temperature will increase further by the end of the month. Health issues like skin allergies and the possibility of the spread of infectious diseases such as cholera, malaria, dengue and chickenpox will increase.

Skin allergies are common due to rise in the temperature.

  • Take care of your skin as it turns oily or dry in the summer.
  • Wear more cotton clothes during the summer season.

“We tend to sweat a lot during the summer. To avoid dehydration, we should drink more water. Because of the change in weather and the dryness of the skin, skin allergies will be more severe. I recommend people use moisturisers and coconut oil to avoid dryness of the skin. Include more fruits and vegetables in the diet. As mosquitoes breed more, there will be an increase in water-borne disease, so keep the environment clean”, said Shri Vatsa, a dermatologist.
