BENGALURU: Initial investigation into the murder of businessman Jugraj Jain in a Chamarajpet apartment has revealed that the employee Bijuram may not have planned to kill him, but strangled him later for fear of being caught.

Footage from CCTVs shows Bijuram carting away all the cash and jewellery in two big bags.

Bijuram, who started working for Jugraj about six months ago, had complete information about the family’s businesses in electronics and money lending. He even knew where the family had kept crores of rupees in cash, gold and other valuables. Sensing an opportunity on Tuesday night, when no one else except Jugraj was at home, Bijuram struck.

He first went to Jugraj’s room and threw chilli powder into his eyes. Then he tied up the businessman’s hands and feet, gagged him and locked him up in the bathroom. But, when Jugraj started kicking the door, Bijuram strangulated him.

He then packed the cash and valuables in four large packets, which he placed in two big bags, and escaped. He however did not take the silver articles. All this he managed to do in just half an hour.

The police are now looking at whether he was acting alone or whether he had any accomplices.
