CHAMARAJANAGAR: The transfer of Chamarajanagar Rural police sub-inspector B Puttaswamy to the District Central Armed Reserve (DCAR) in Mysuru district has kicked off a storm with his supporters claiming that it is politically motivated. They are even blaming Kollegal MLA N Mahesh, former MLA G N Nanjundaswamy and Gundlupet MLA Niranjan Kumar for the transfer.

Supporters of the police officer have put up posts on social media venting their ire against politicians and blaming them for his transfer. Targeting MLA Mahesh, the post reads that ‘transfer, as a weapon, would burn him’ and that he would be swept away by winds like dry leaves.

The comments, posted on the Facebook page of B Puttaswamy Fans Club and B Puttaswamy Welfare Trust says after the future of Dalit students was trampled, it is now the turn on Dalit officers.

“Puttaswamy has done good work during the Covid-19 pandemic and we are hurt by his transfer. The government should award him a state medal or a Chief Minister’s gold medal and he should be continued in Chamarajanagar district”, an officer-bearer of his fans’ association.

The police officer is believed to have political aspirations and has been undertaking social welfare activities through his trust.
