MANDYA: A chain snatcher was caught, tied to a pole and thrashed by villagers of Akkibalu in K R Pet taluk in the district on Monday.

The accused chain snatcher was identified as Nurullah. He tried to steal a gold chain from a woman’s neck while she was putting rangoli in front of her house.
When the woman raised an alarm, locals nabbed him red-handed and tied him to a pole. The enraged locals did not heed his apology, thrashed him badly and handed over him to the local police.
A case has been registered at the KR Pet Rural police station.
