Following the theft of the photographs, a complaint was registered at Chitradurga police station. The theft occurred late in the night on October 5 and was captured on CCTV cameras. The culprits have used a vehicle to carry away the photos of the Murugha mutt seer seen with other religious leaders, dignitaries like the President and Prime Minister, political leaders, business icons and thinkers.

Several Veerashaiva religious leaders had exerted pressure on the mutt authorities to remove pictures from the wall soon after POCSO case filed against the seer.

The additional CCTVs are being installed in the main entrance gate and across the mutt premises for enhanced security purposes in the light of the recent developments.
