CCB police seize unaccounted cash of Rs 2.73 crore from car in Belagavi

BELAGAVI: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have seized Rs 2.73 crore in unaccounted cash on Saturday morning from a goods vehicle travelling from Sangli in Maharashtra to Hubballi. The vehicle was intercepted based on a tipoff  and the driver and his companion were taken into custody.

Two people, Sachin Menakudule and Maruti Maragude, both from Sangli, Maharashtra, have been apprehended in connection with the seizure.

The operation was carried out as the cash was being transported without any documentation or records, indicating potential illegal activities. Further investigation is under way. The accused had modified the goods vehicle to transport the cash.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohan Jagadish said that an investigation is under way to determine the source of the seized money. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Belagavi’s Malamaruti police station, and a case has been registered in this regard.
