Cases of fever, cough and cold rise again in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Along with a gradual rise in Covid-19 cases, hundreds of patients are visiting K C General Hospital in Malleswaram every day with symptoms of cold, cough and fever among children and the elderly, mostly due to the change in weather.

The city has been witnessing changing weather including scorching heat and intermittent rains. Doctors said that they are seeing patients with various symptoms, including cold, cough and fever. In the past week, many people have been admitted to K C General Hospital and majority of them suffered from influenza. Some patients are admitted in the hospital for further treatment, while others are undergoign treatment at home on the doctor’s advice.

Hundreds of patients visit KC General Hospital daily with symptoms of cold, cough and fever in children and the elderly.

More than 1,000 outpatients are screened every Monday, and 700-800 patients visit KC General Hospital every other day of which 60-70 percent of patients are admitted. Children and seniors are more likely to be admitted with cold, cough and fever. Although there are no serious symptoms at the time of admission, the doctors suggested the the patients should take rest.

“If we take a statistical census of a week in the hospital, which is from Monday to Saturday, more than 1,000 patients visit KC General Hospital every day. There are more outpatients in the medical department with complaints of fever, cough and other symptoms that can be seen in elders and children. This is a normal case of influenza, and heat stroke is common during the summer season”, said Dr Indira Kabade, Medical Superintendent, KC General Hospital.
