BENGALURU: An FIR has been registered against a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Internal Security Division (ISD) for allegedly harassing and assaulting his wife over his extramarital affair with another woman.
The Deputy SP’s wife, who has a son studying in college, filed a complaint against her husband Shankarappa, at the Northeast Women’s police station. The Deputy SP allegedly had an affair with another woman and married her without divorcing his first wife.
The wife claimed that she had begged her husband to leave the other woman and not ruin their family, but he threatened her with dire consequences. The wife also alleged that her husband demanded dowry and subjected her to physical and mental abuse. The wife has also approached the DG&IGP, seeking justice.
Despite registering an FIR against the DySP and the other woman, the police are allegedly trying to cover up the case due to the DySP’s influence. The wife claims that the police are not taking action against her husband despite the evidence.
